Party at my crib!

This just might have been our last relaxing weekend before my baby sister comes so I was aloud to have some friends over!

I invited my frinds Makenna, Ellie and Josh! We had SO much fun! We got to play for about three hours while our parents got to hang out!

Here are some pictures of us and all the fun we were having!

This is my frind Makenna! I know her from school. Her Mommy and Daddy are Andrea and Jeremy.

I'm giving my baby a ride in the car.
We got to eat dinner at my kitchen table on the porch!
The grown ups watched the Phillies pull off a win!
Cheese!
This is my friend Ellie. She is my neighbor.  Her Mommy and Daddy are Heather and Frank and Josh is her big brother.

Ring around the rosie, a pocket full of posies...
Ashes, ashes, we all fall down!

Again!

Thanks for coming over and playing with me! I had so much fun and hope you did too!

Baby #2's room!!

The big reveal!

Daddy did an awesome job at painting my sister's room. We just love the purple colors.

This was daddy getting the room ready for a baby girl!
 Come see my sister's room!

This is a peak in to my room!
Thanks for checking in!

Here is my mommy, three weeks and one day before her due date!
I think my sister is going to love her new room!
What do you think?

Love,
Big Sister Alexis

School Day

I am currently having summer camp at school! We have special guests come in and visit us, we make and eat special treats, and I have sprinkler days twice a week! I wear my bathing suit to school on sprinkler days. Days when we have special guests come in, I wear my school shirt.

Here's a pic of me in my school shirt and some recent projects I've made.

As you can see I am really good at Art class!

Baby #2 update

Today we are at 36 Weeks and 2 Days - we have 3 Weeks and 5 days to go!
Our baby is as big as a watermelon (19 to 22 inches and 6.5 lbs)

Our pregnancy is technically considered full-term - which means I could safely go into labor any day now. The baby is still growing and can gain about half a ounce per day.

Our baby is a busy girl. She is simulating breathing by inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid, sucking on her thumb, blinking, and pivoting from side to side.

Are we ready??? We are at home. The room looks great, clothes are washed, our car is getting cleaned for when we put her car-seat in, and we've been preparing Alexis to be a gentle Big Sister.

I'm going to the doctor's weekly now and even have to have non-stress tests done twice a week at the hospital. (Believe it or not, that's because I'm over the age of 35.)

As far as if Ben and I are ready? Well, we're as ready as we'll ever be. It hard to believe our next baby girl will be joining us so soon. This pregnancy has gone so fast. We are ready to meet her, but still very anxious. Everyone asks if we've decided on a name? Unlike with Alexis, we still have a list of names and have not made a decision yet. I hope it's true that when we see her, we will know!

We'll keep you all posted!

My Daddy's Day - 2012

I had a nice day with my Daddy for Father's Day!
We had plans but ended up having a relaxing day at home.

I got my daddy a special mug that he really loved! It holds lots of coffee and it has pictures of me on it! Is there anything better than that?

I also, at school, made Daddy a Root-beer Cooly with stars and basketballs on it!

I love you Daddy!

My recent play-date with Jesse

Last week Miss Melody brought over Jesse for me to play with!

It's been a while since you've seen Jessie, so here he is! He's gotten so big!
 Jesse, where are you?
Here I am Alexis, behind you!
So you think I'm handsome, right?
Till our next play-date...

Parent - Teacher meeting

We met last week with Alexi's teacher, Miss Pam, to discuss how she's doing in school; what she's learning and what we should be working with her on.

The Malvern's School Key is:
3 = Fully Met Milestone (The milestone is observed almost all of the time)
2 = Partially Met Milestone (The milestone is observed some of the time)
1 = Not Met Milestone (The milestone is rarely or seldom observed)
NA = Not Applicable (The milestone is not applicable durring the semester)

Cognitive Milestones
They touched on nine areas.
3 = in the area of being able to name and locate at least five body parts.
1 = in the area of being able to sort objects by group.
All other areas, she was given two's.
*Teacher's comment: "We will continue to work with Alexis on sorting and labeling objects, by using colorful manipulatives."

Laguage Milestones
They touched on seven areas.
1 = in the area of making sentences of 2 or 3 words.
1 = in the area of asking "where" and "why" questions. (These two were funny because although she's not making sentences, she is asking "Where did it go?". When I told Miss Pam I was hearing this at home, she did report back to me the very next day that she too heard Alexis ask where something went!)
1 = in the area of using fantasy language while role playing.
*Teacher's comment: "While Alexis' language skill are growing, we will continue to encourage her to use two-word phrases when answering questions." (She did say she filled out her report card two-weeks prior to us meeting and that already at the time of our meeting, Alexis has begun putting two+ words together.)

Art/Music Milestones
They touched on 13 areas.
3 = in the area that Alexis can paint using her fingers or a brush.
All other areas, she was given two's.
Miss Pam said Alexis loves all art and music time in class!
*Teacher's comment: "Alexis enjoys music, and is beginning to sing along and perform motions to songs during Mornign Meeting."

Physical Milestones
They touched on 11 areas.
3 = in the area that she can run!
3 = in the area that she can walk up steps without hand holding.
3 = in the area that she can jump in place.
All other areas, she was given two's.
*Teacher's comment: "While Alexis' large motor skills are growing, we will encourage the development of her fine motor skills through stringing, lacing, and stacking activities.

Social/Emotional Milestones
They touched on nine areas.
3 = in the area that Alexis plays near other children.
All other areas, she was given two's.
*Teacher's comment: "Alexis is able to participate in group activities, such as games and stories, for longer periods of time, and interacts appropriately with the other children!"

Self-Help Milestones
They touched on eight areas.
3 = in the area that Alexis can unzip a large zipper.
1 = in the area where Alexis is cognizant of wet/soiled diaper. (She doesn't tell them when she has a poopy diaper. She will occasionally tell us at home.)
All other areas, she was given two's.
*Teacher's comment: "Alexis is able to clean up the toys when asked, and often does so without prompting from her teachers!

**Miss Pam's overall commnts: "Alexis is advancing nicely in the Young Toddler Class. We will continue to encourage her language development, and work on color and shape recognition. She as become very social and enjoys interacting with the other children during the school day.

We are very pleased with the Malvern School and extremely proud of our little girl. Everyday is something new for her and she continues to surprise us!

My visit with Uncle Dave

Uncle Dave came to visit and spend some time with us. We had a wonderful time! We had a lot of fun; we played, we danced, we went out for dinner and we went to my Uncle Ken's house-warming party.

This is Uncle Dave singing the "Jump Alexis, Jump song"!

Here I am showing Uncle Dave my kitchen!
Uncle Dave brought me a present...a puppy dog. I love him!

His visit was too short and I hope he comes to visit again real soon!
Thanks for coming to see me Uncle Dave!

Love,
Alexis
